Great link, thank you. I’m so used to desperately trying to make this old 3a work that I didn’t realize they’d listed out support expectations for more recent models.

I believe I’m too old with my 3a. I’ve been considering getting a used 5, 6, 7, or 8 off ebay but I worry that support will run out. Any idea if that’s true?
I don’t believe they support the 3a. I’m really vintage.
Any idea how long support will last for the 8? I feel a little burned by the lack of support for the 3a, though I understand that a) 6 years for a phone is a good run in this wasteful world, and b) wifi calling on the 3a hasn’t been dropped by choice, but is actually a complicated issue that small #s of devs are still working on.
I went outside my comfort zone and installed Lineage on my old Pixel, only to find out I couldn’t get wi-fi calling, so I reverted to my Google OS. Oh no. Any options other than Lineage or a new phone? This 6 year old phone works great except for the lack of updates, and expect for the upcoming Gemini updates :( I’m struggling.
Novice question: I think I am understanding that Aurora is a way of accessing the Google store without actually installing the Google Play Store, but is there a software package that it comes with? Is it MicroG? I am a little lost with how these relate to each other.
I installed Lineage and MindtheGapps on my Pixel 3a yesterday, but I’m interested in alternatives before I commit to this setup. It seemed like the easiest route given my lack of know-how, but my hope had been to de-Google gracefully and I don’t know if that’s possible with system-level Google still installed on my phone.
Isn’t part of the issue here that they’re defaulting to LLMs being people, and having the same rights as people? I appreciate the “right to read” aspect, but it would be nice if this were more explicitly about people. Foregoing copyright law because there’s too much data is also insane, if that’s what’s happening. Claude should be required to provide citations “each time they recall it from memory”.
Does Citizens United apply here? Are corporations people, and so LLMs are, too? If so, then imo we should be writing legal documents with stipulations like, “as per Citizens United” so that eventually, when they overturn that insanity in my dreams, all of this new legal precedence doesn’t suddenly become like a house of cards. Ianal.
I love cities with hidden courtyards. I know Spanish colonial has a lot of this, but Paris (not sure the style) does too. I’m not saying it’s the direction we should move in regarding efficiency nor climate proofing, but it’s really nice to get a little semi-private outdoor space (they are often shared between several houses) and have windows that open up to it. It also creates a feeling of mystery, like you really need to get to know a city before it will open it’s doors to you.
Volunteer firefighters (USA), those guys do important work and do not get tax money.
Trying to catch a baby duck is like trying to hold water, or happiness, in your hands. They seem to be Schrodingers ducks for how rapidly and unexpectedly they move.
And an adult duck? They sometimes pet you back! I kept ducks for a while and one would regularly preen my fingers as though they were feathers.
Ducks can be happiness.
Oh no! Let’s not, please.
I think I’m over the apathy… It was actually sadness and overwhelm that I wasn’t processing. I’m back.
I just had a third package stolen out of my mailbox in a month. I don’t usually feel this way, but your post speaks to me. Can I move to another country yet?
What if my USPS packages keep disappearing, asupposedly reputable sender. I don’t know if they are making it to my mailbox, or if they’re stolen after making it to my mailbox.
Like kei cars … Kei rockets!!!
The obsession with Technology Connections seems to be unique to Lemmy. I think it’s memeified at this point!
Someone created a post a few days ago asking what the differences are between Reddit and lemmy. Is an obsession with Technology Connections it, or did I just miss that boat on reddit?
Iirc this was designed by a committee somewhat recently, yes? Now it’s on bags and walls and flying proudly. Good job, Chicago.
Agreed. It always makes me think of Nascar, lol. But the other half represents a pro-Confederate family, and I’d love to hear someone explain how the city of Baltimore has continued to accept that. “Bigger fish to fry” and “not wanting to alienate racists” is all I can come up with.
I grew up 2 blocks from a train station that would start running routes every 10 min starting at 5:30 or so. Oh boy I can’t believe I slept through it as a kid, I wouldn’t be able to now without re-acclimating.
Er, I think they mean:
American public (we exist)
Public transport (not much here)
American transport (cars)
